    Michael Connell, LPC

Michael Connell is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Connecticut with 5 years’ experience delivering goal oriented, solution focused therapy to individuals with a wide range of psychological and emotional disorders. Michael graduated from Xavier University as an undergrad student and received his master’s in Counseling at Cambridge College, in Cambridge, MA. Michael has experience with people struggling with addiction, life transitions, difficult relationships, and trauma victims. Michael is trained in mindfulness and EMDR modalities, as well as CBT interventions.

Michael focuses on tangible behavioral changes the individual can employ to enhance empowerment, and to reduce anxiety and frustrations in day-to-day life. Michael aims to utilize the strengths the individual brings into session, and to improve upon perceived weaknesses, and to build upon those within a collaborative framework that promotes self-confidence and self-actualization. Michael is also trained in using the therapeutic method of EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is a form of psychotherapy in which the person being treated is asked to recall distressing images; the therapist then directs the patient in one type of bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye rapid movement or hand tapping.

Michael sees people of a wide age range, from adolescence to elderly as well. Michael has the ability to see people both face to face, and through tele-health sessions as well. In his spare time Michael enjoys watching sporting events, reading, going to concerts (when there isn’t a pandemic of course), and spending time with his wife and dog Lily and cat Buster.
