
Carolyn King is a Licensed Professional Counselor, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Allied Health Sciences from UCONN and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western CT State University. Carolyn has previous experience working in a psychiatric residential treatment facility, eating disorder residential programs, outpatient mental health, and an extended day treatment program. Carolyn also currently works within a juvenile justice mental health program located in juvenile detention.
Carolyn has a passion for utilizing strength-based approaches as well as person-centered strategies, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other mindfulness therapies including dialectical behavioral therapy.Carolyn is dedicated to supporting individuals through difficulties with anxiety and depression as well as working with individuals with eating disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, and various life transitions. Creativity and humor are a staple in her therapeutic approach. Therapy is not a one size fits all remedy and she takes the time to understand her client’s and their individual needs or goals in life.
Carolyn believes that everyone deserves access to the care they deserve and are worthy of feeling well. It is her mission that clients feel empowered and inspired to realize that wellness is possible. In Carolyn’s spare time she enjoys traveling, eating delicious foods, spending time in nature, and being with friends and family (including her dog Callie of course)!
